Can you feel your success?
It is unmeasurable! It is intangible! Success is a feeling!
Success buys happiness, happiness brings health and joy.
How do you define success?
- The achievement of something desired, planned, or attempted.
- The gaining of fame or prosperity.
- Favourable or prosperous termination of attempts or endeavors
For some (most), monetary reward is a measure of success. If we talk about a successful business man, we generally mean a wealthy, prosperous person. If we see someone with an expensive car, big house, expensive clothes, frequenting exclusive venues – we conclude that they are SUCCESSFUL. But are our assumptions correct?
Is a successful life measured by the number of your followers on Twitter? How popular you are on Facebook? How little calories you eat? Or how many items you’ve crossed off your bucket list?
Many of us were brought up to study after school (“you need something behind your name, something to fall back unto”), get a good job, buy your first house, get a fancy car and work for 40+ years until retirement. Only then, can we finally enjoy ourselves. How sad is that? And most of us did it (or are busy with this “normal” life cycle), because we were brainwashed into believing that is the way it should be! It is nothing but a real life tragedy playing off before us.
You and I are fortunate enough to live in an era with more opportunity than ever before. We can express ourselves, bring something new and beautiful in the world and to ultimately make a real contribution to the universe and its people.
You can make a difference in your family, friends, community or work place. Now is the time to step it up. Strive to contribute something meaningful. Choose to live a life that moves your soul.
Success is not measured by doing tough things, to run the Comrades 20 times, to be the CEO, to own a few mansions, to drive a Porsche, wear a Breitling or to have a R10m investment.
NO, success is a feeling. Success can only be measured (felt) by you, in your ability to be your authentic self, in the greatest service to mankind you are capable of. So stop comparing yourself with others. If you are content, and add value to others, you ARE successful.
